Look for this poster at our annual Dog Mart event.  Tickets may be bought at the Dog Mart and at any opportunities up to the Day of the drawing, which will be on November 5 at the November Membership meeting.  Winners drawn need not be at the meeting and will be contacted.  Winners selected for the first and second prizes will need to have the firearm transferred at a local FFL. Details will be explained on request or after contact with a winner. But putting it quite succinctly, winners of either the first or second prizes will need to demonstrate eligibility for receiving a firearm after a NICS background gun check. A NICS gun check is the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System review that an FFL dealer must run before transferring a firearm, using ATF Form 4473 and databases like the NICS Index, NCIC, and III to determine if the buyer is legally eligible. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is operated by the FBI to determine whether a firearm buyer is prohibited under federal or state law. NICS was created under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 and active since 1998.
