The once-a-year venue for the Fredericksburg Dog Mart (12400 Herndon Road, Spotsylvania CH, VA) is in its final stages of preparation. This year’s event is on Saturday, September 26. The entrance to the Dog Mart venue is on the crest of a hill, and if you are coming north on Herndon Road from Brock Road, the entrance to the property will be a left turn. Be cautious of oncoming traffic heading south. The speed limit is 45 mph, but, unfortunately, many consider the speed limit signs as advisory. People exceed the speed limit and it is dangerous, so be careful.  

After entering the long driveway, proceed down the road to the cashier location where you will need to pay $5 (cash or charge). You will then be guided by attendants to the marked parking areas. Parking is limited so heed the instructions of the attendant so we can park as many cars close to the venue as we can.  Be carefull when leaving you vehicle and walking to the other side of the road.  There are some parking slots reserved for people that have disabled parking plates or hang tags. 

The signs in the photo are placed at the entry of the grounds of the Fredericksburg-Rappahannock Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America, Inc. The chapter, founded here in 1947, is the host for the annual Fredericksburg Dog Mart and is the longest continuous Dog Mart, which originated 327 years ago at the falls of the Rappahannock before the founding of Fredericksburg. We are the proud home for several 501(c)3 charitable organizations to include the Manahoac Bowmen, the Boy Scout Troop 21, and Cub Scout Pack 21. Numerous other organizations use the property for campouts, fishing, and general recreation.
