Today, the weather forced a decision to postpone the 327th Fredericksburg Dog Mart from Saturday to its raindate on Sunday, September 28. This was a disappointment to all the volunteers who arrived early and were ready to put on a show for the public. We tried to communicate with the public with some success. Nevertheless, a dozen carloads arrived throughout the morning. All were understanding and not too surprised about the reason, even though in the morning, the threat of rain only resulted in sporadic showers and dampness. It did rain during the time we would have held the dog show so it was a good call. Nearly everyone said they would return tomorrow when the weather is more encouraging. We apologize to all who wanted the Dog Mart to happen on its scheduled date. We will try again tomorrow.
During the morning, we were pleasantly surprised by an unexpected vendor who brought in a large number of fall and Christmas craft items, including table decorations and wreaths. Truly, this vendor’s wares are magnificent works of craftsmanship. I am posting a photo of only a small portion of her exhibit, which must be seen in person to understand the quality of these craft items. This was one benefit that derived from the rain postponement.
